Just a wife and mother of 2 who is trying to get healthy by doing the thing!

Probably not. Any fast movement of my shoulder makes it hurt.

I don't have a pull up bar and I don't think there's any chance of me getting one, so personally, that would be a no from me, but I think others who have a pull up bar would absolutely benefit from it.

I'm super bummed today. I've had a pinched nerve in my shoulder since yesterday. Just now, when I was doing my warm up jumping Jacks, I noticed the arm movement caused pain in my shoulder, so I stopped doing them. Before I moved on to anything else, I decided to test jumping rope. That hurt my shoulder too. I don't think it's a very good idea to do a workout if I'm in pain, so JRD90 Week 1 day 5 will be a no go for me. I hate doing that because I feel like it offsets everything. What do you guys do when something like this happens? I don't want to just skip week 1 day 5 completely, as every workout is important to build up the strength for what's coming in other workouts, but doing it on Monday next week will offset next week's workouts. What do I do? I'm so bummed!!

I'm only a week into the Jumprope + Dumbell program, which I'm really enjoying, and I'm gonna have to postpone it. One of my adjustable dumbells broke. I mean the thing completely fell apart. I'm not sure what I was expecting. These Dumbells of mine were cheap as far as adjustable dumbbells go. Still, for $90, I expected more from them. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a new, better set. Until then, what program should I do? Are there any other programs with videos that have Dan in them? I prefer those, but honestly, I just wanna do the thing, so I suppose anything will do. Comment with suggestions. Thanks!

Question about this challenge. I just started the Jump rope + Dumbell program. Will I have to put a hold on the program to do the challenge or can I keep going with it and also do the challenge?

I'm loving the Jump rope + Dumbell program, by the way. It's perfect so far. Month 1 day 3 REALLY kicked my butt and I'm feeling SO sore. I'm looking forward to seeing the muscle come on!

I was born on July 30th.

Ooh! I'll join! July is my birthday month. It would be cool if I won something.

Finished the Shredded Ninja program this morning. I can't say it was my favorite workout program I've ever done. I got bored with it a month and a half in but instead of giving up, I doubled down and did two workouts a day until I finished.
Over the last few months, I've been learning more about my body, particularly my feet. You would think that after 38 years of having this body of mine, I would know all about my feet and what shoes work best for me. My feet are very odd. I have very narrow heels, but the front half of my foot is very wide. Over the last six months of jumping rope, I have begun to develop a Taylor's bunion or bunionette (a bunion on the pinky toe side). This is a direct result of cramming my feet in shoes too narrow for my toes. I've been doing a lot of research about feet, bunions, and how to correct them. Unfortunately, to fully correct a bunion I would have to have surgery, however, there are steps I can take to reverse some of the damage. I am beginning to wear toe spacers every night, increasing the time I wear them by a half an hour. Eventually I should be able to wear them all the time without pain. Second, I will be working on strengthening the muscles in my feet. After a few months of doing that, I will transition to shoes with a larger toe box. This will fix most problems from the bunion. I'm just glad I caught it now instead of assuming it was just normal foot pain from exercising.
Years ago, narrow shoes were the style. It meant you were wealthy. Why? Because owning horses meant you were wealthy, and narrow shoes fit very well into sturups. Til this day, narrow shoes seem to be the style. Especially for women, which is why women are more prone to bunions than men are. We women are constantly stuffing out feet into narrow dress shoes. This results in shoe shaped feet. We should be wearing foot shaped shoes! Everyone, please take care of your feet! Wear shoes with a large toe box, especially if you're having foot pain! I can't stress this enough! Foot health is incredibly important because if our feet aren't in good condition, chances are, you've got bone structure problems from your toes to the top of your head. It all starts with the feet! Let's take care of them!

Ok, I just finished Shredded Ninja. I'm going to go through the pros and cons of this workout program. I'm normally very honest when I review something. I don't hold back and I say exactly how I feel. With that said, here's my review of the Shredded Ninja workout program.

Pros: Helps you lose weight, the music was catchy.

Cons: Not a fan of not having the dudes talk me through the workouts, it was pretty boring, very little focus on abs, didn't have a pull-up bar, so I did dumbell Flys instead.

I'll elaborate on the pros first. This workout program definitely helped me lose weight, even if I didn't have much to lose. I had been jumping rope for about four months before I starter this program, so I had lost some weight doing my own thing (about five pounds). This program got me down t9 the lowest I've ever been in my life. 107 pounds (before you freak out, keep in mind that I'm a petite women of only 5'2", so 107 is a very healthy weight for my height). The music was good for an exercise program. Not exactly my personal preference or style, but it could have been worse, so I was happy with it.

Cons: I really disliked the way this workout was laid out. When I first started it, I was fully expecting to be jumping along with one of the dudes, but I found myself following along with pre-recorded demonstrations of the exercises. I was so bored with it that I wished I had chosen a different program. I would have quit but that's not my style. I ALWAYS finish what I've started, so instead of quitting, I decided to double down. I did two workouts a day for the second half of the program. Am I crazy? Maybe just a little. It definitely challenged me. I didn't like how this program didn't focus on abs very much. The last month or so of workouts started to, but it wasn't much. I also didn't have a pull-up bar, so I decided to do dumbell flys instead. That didn't bother me. I probably would have become very frustrated doing pull-ups.

RESULTS: I'm a little confused as to why they decided to call this program Shredded Ninja. When I think of the work Shredded in fitness context, I think of lean muscles. However, this program was focused on weight loss, not muscle building. I thought that by the end of this program, I would have built a fair amount of lean muscle. That was not the case. But, as this program is actually geared more toward weight loss, I can't be totally upset with the results, as that's exactly what happened. When I started this program, I was 113 pounds. Now I'm 107 pounds. I probably would have lost a little more, but I wasn't exactly following the suggested diet to a T. I did gain a little bit of muscle in my arms, which is probably the best part of my results feom this program. My family tends to have a naturally strong lower body, but our upper bodies have always been very weak. When my husband noticed my arm muscles, he was pretty impressed. Granted, they're not huge, but it's the most noticeable change as a result of this workout program.

Conclusion: Overall, I can't say I really liked this program very much. That's not to say I wouldn't suggest it to others. That all depends on what they want from a workout program. It wasn't bad, I just didn't prefer it.

I've been doing the Shredded Ninja program. It's an alright program, but I find that I don't really like workout programs where I'm not skipping along with Dan. I'm getting a lot out of the program but I want to get it over with and move on to something else, so I've been doing two workouts a day. I've got six days of this left. What do you guys suggest I do next?
