Expect to feel dumb at first. Like the others have said, you'll be uncoordinated and keep tripping over your rope. You'll whip yourself a lot. People will look at you weird. But after a few weeks of consistency, you'll start to notice results. You'll feel better and lighter. You'll get into the zone and jump without even thinking about it. You'll start to develop tricks. You just can't stop because you feel dumb at first.
Sidenote: you'll always whip yourself from time to time, it's just part of the game :)
