I had my first physical therapy appointment. The therapist asked what I liked to do. Jump rope, of course! He asked what are my goals and I said to take and pass my military physical fitness test and jump rope. He said, “Jumping rope will certainly get your biceps working.” I loved his respect for doing the thing.

Super stoked he’s encouraging my healing to meet those two goals. I can’t wait to start jumping again! I’m now out of my sling and will only wear it as needed. 🤙🏻

It started last Spring as just weight loss. Now it’s for continual weight loss and building up my cardiovascular. Also, it’s low impact is easier on me than running. Before my surgery, it helped increase my run time, so it will continue be used to keep me up on my cardio for my military job. Once I get to my final desired weight, I’ll use it to sustain my weight and allow me eat in a decent calorie maintenance. Finally, I love getting jumper’s high. When I hit it, I get so pumped during the workout. 🤙🏻

I’ve always used the heavy handles on the 1/2lbs rope. The slim handles don’t support my wrist enough for that rope, so the heavy handles work perfectly.

I use running shoes. I’ve jumped in ASICS and recently Brookes.

I just wanted to give Brandon a shoutout regarding his recent post on injuries and weight loss. As I head into surgery, I needed to be reminded that weight loss is 90% nutrition. It assured me that making those proper adjustments and finding other avenues to stay active will help me continue on this journey.

Looking forward to jumping once again!

I haven’t jumped consistently since the end of May after sustaining a foot injury, so I’ve been cautious with it by jumping every so often. I’m getting some work in before I head into shoulder surgery, looking at a 4-6 month physical therapy.
