I'm going to be really real here - that was not an awesome workout....though it wasn't the workout's fault. I mean, I hate ladders in general (my old JRD90 peeps know this about me), but that's not actually why it wasn't awesome. It wasn't awesome because I messed up...A LOT. I even whipped my arm a few times, which I haven't done since my early days of jumping. I used to be a MUCH better skipper, so it was pretty frustrating. I stuck with it (and will continue to stick with it), but I was annoyed with myself pretty much the whole time. And when I tried to do some running in place skipping, I felt a twinge in my formerly broken (recently healed) foot, so that put the kibosh on that one.

I know the workouts can't all be great and not being able to jump for a long time has its effect on the body, so I'm not disheartened....well, not completely, anyway. Perhaps it is better to say that I'm not dispairing. I did do the thing - however imperfect that thing may have been - and I will keep on doing the thing. 😉

I just finished getting my unattached garage all set up to start JRD Max tomorrow. 😁

The last time I got it all set up and ready to go for the next day (this past Summer - I had planned to redo Shredded Ninja), I broke my foot. Literally - I had JUST finished blowing out all the leaves and walnuts from the squirrel raves (you do NOT want to get me started on the destructive little rodents known as squirrels) and getting things all set up/ready; I was taking out a set of dumbells from my house, when POP! I stepped down wrong from a high step and hello, displaced broken 5th metatarsal. Needless to say, all that work had been in vain, as there was to be no jumping for me for quite awhile. 😖

BUT, now the foot is healed and I've been super careful on that particular step, so we're good to go! I even did some test skipping (and got winded fairly quickly - it's been awhile) and I'm excited to start! It's still pretty chilly, but it's supposed to be in the 50's (Fahrenheit for my non-American friends) this week, so it shouldn't be too bad. 😊

Good for you!

Yes, they can definitely be challenging at first! You could always try just 15 or 20 at a time and build up. It did take a bit for the shin splint pain to go away, as it had gotten pretty severe for me; but once it was gone, it didn't come back. (I definitely make sure to keep the tib raises incorporated in my workouts, as I do NOT want to experience that again!)

I hope you feel better soon! I won't be starting until next week, myself.
