Jump rope and dumbbells Month 1 Week 4 Day 4 is complete!

Today’s workout went much better than the last jump rope-only workout. The rope spun very smoothly today with each swing and I could actually flow with it. I actually thought I could make it through the entire workout without tripping on the rope! Then I tripped on the rope 3 times during the last 2 minute circuit…😅

One more workout and I am done with Month 1!

How was Day 4? That one was memorable for me even though I did JRD90 years ago because of all the burpees and Dan being as tired as I was feeling...then came the pull-ups and I was like, "Heck no!"

Definitely an important topic to cover, especially for older folks and people who are injury-prone! It's no fun not being able to jump rope for weeks or months because of an injury (which happened to me)

Jump Rope and Dumbbells Month 1 Week 4 Days 2 and 3 are done!

I did Day 2 yesterday and finished Day 3 today.

After four weeks, my opinion is that Day 3 is toughest of the Month 1 workouts. Especially for people who don't normally do squats or hit their leg muscles very much in their workouts. In my case it's mainly tough because I insist on using heavier weights than Dan would probably recommend if he was coaching me in-person. Still, doing a 4 minute jump rope "cooldown" (four 1-minute intervals with 10 seconds between each interval) after all those rounds of squats and thrusters is not fun at all 😅 At least on Day 5, you don't have extra jump rope rounds after you are done with the dumbbells and push-ups.

I have noticed that I have been tripping on the rope more than usual for the past two workouts as well. Going to take tomorrow off as a rest/recovery/stretching day.

Jump Rope and Dumbbell Program

Month 1 Week 4 Day 1 is Complete!

This is the final time I do this workout for this 12 week schedule, so I tried to bring the intensity with it (especially during the jump rope parts of the circuit).

5 rounds with heavier weights was more than enough to leave me feeling fatigued and good for the day (exercise-wise). Onward to Day 2 tomorrow!

Jump Rope and Dumbbell Month 1 Week 3 Day 5 is complete!

Looks like I have one more week of this before I begin a new week of new workouts!

My body felt fine during the workout (jump rope, DB curls, and 100 push-ups), but the soreness started hitting hours later. I'm going to do a 20 minute recovery/yoga session tomorrow, but otherwise take it as a rest day.

Jump and Dumbbell Month 1 Week 3 Day 4 is complete! It’s a jump rope-only day which means I only needed 3 pieces of equipment: jump rope, jump mat, and the JRD app on my phone.

I took yesterday off because of multiple factors (sore body, exhaustion from doing a lot of overtime work, need for recovery via rest and stretching/yoga, etc). It’s important to listen to one’s body to avoid injury after all.

Back to weights and push ups tomorrow I guess!

Hi Neil! Sounds like we're following the same schedule. I also finished Week 2 Day 5 on Sunday. I opted take Monday as a rest day, and wait until Tuesday to start back on Day 1 again. Just finished Week 3 Day 3 today myself when I saw your post!

Checking in to keep myself accountable:

JRD Jump Rope and Dumbbell Program Month 1 Week 3 Days 2 and 3 are complete!

I did Day 2 yesterday, but had no time to update. It wasn't anything special...just a Jump Rope "Elongated HIIT" workout again that I made sure to do at as high of an intensity as I could.

Today I did Day 3 for the third time, and my legs felt almost as wiped as they did the first time through even though I used the same weights as the first two weeks 🤔 I hope that doesn't mean my legs will be as sore as they were on Week 1 tomorrow!

I hope everyone else is still on track with their Jump Rope Journeys!

Looking good, dude.
